Stormy weather set to hit the Netherlands on Tuesday

June 19, 2023  -Dutch News NL -The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for Tuesday, saying that strong winds, rain and hail are likely over much of the country.

Monday will remain mainly cloudy and there may be light showers in the west, but the sun will be back by late afternoon and evening and the temperature again will be upwards of 25°.

Monday night will be sultry and warm and there may be showers in many places, possibly with thunder in the east, the KNMI said.

Tuesday morning will begin with sunshine but by the afternoon, heavy storms will hit the south of the country, bringing plenty of rain and hail. The storms will move up and over the entire country as evening progresses but will bypass some places altogether.

“I don’t think the storms will amount to much in  Noord-Holland, Friesland and the Wadden Sea,” Buienradar meteorologist Marc de Jong told RTL Nieuws. “The worst of the weather will be in Zeeland, parts of Brabant, Utrecht, Gelderland and Overijssel. There, the storm could lead to flash flooding and other damage.”

Wednesday the sun will be back but by Thursday the storms may again hit the southeast of the country. The weekend will be warm and dry with temperatures around 25°
