Red Cross raises 150,000 guilders through fundraising effort

May 30, 2023  –WILLEMSTAD – The Red Cross has announced that it successfully raised 150,000 guilders during the telethon held on Sunday. This emergency aid organization organized the fundraising campaign, which was broadcast on radio and television, allowing people to make donations until 10 p.m. 

A generous contribution of 50,000 guilders was made by MCB towards the cause. With the objective of completing the construction of their new building, the Red Cross aims to raise a total amount of 500,000 guilders. 

Tragically, three years ago, the main building located in Suffisant was engulfed in flames. The building not only served as the organization’s central hub but also acted as a training space for volunteers and a storage facility for emergency aid materials. The fire resulted in the loss of 200 food parcels. 

The funds raised through the telethon will play a vital role in supporting the Red Cross as it continues its mission of providing essential assistance to those in need.
