Mr. Arrindell is hereby given 24 hours to re-tract the unproven allegations against the Prime Minister, whilst for Minister Ottley the verdict is immediate

On Friday November 24th, the Court of First Instance in St. Maarten rendered their verdict in court proceedings in favor of both the Honorable Prime Minister of St. Maarten Silveria Jacobs and Minister of VSA the Honorable Omar Ottley.

Both the Prime Minister and VSA Minister filed civil cases against businessman Olivier Arrindell for slander and defamation. One of things the Prime Minister in her suit sought to do, was to restore her good name and hopefully put an end to the continuous verbal attacks and non-factual statements that put her in a negative light. Whereas, the VSA Minister similarly tried to restore his good name and dispel the notion that he is a corrupt Minister. Mr. Arrindell who was not present for the case brought against him by the Prime Minister, however attended the proceedings brought against him by the VSA Minister. He was also in attendance for the ruling Friday morning. Following the judgment, a very disappointed Olivier Arrindell heavily stomped out of the court house and disappeared through the alley of the marketplace. In the ruling of the court, Mr. Arrindell is hereby given 24 hours to re-tract the unproven allegations against the Prime Minister, whilst for Minister Ottley the verdict is immediate. Following his refusal to do so, according to the ruling he will be charged $5,000.00 daily amounting up to $1 million. We had the opportunity to speak to those who brought the cases against him.
