Minister Martina has submitted the budget proposal for 2024

May 30, 2023  –WILLEMSTAD – Minister Martina has submitted the budget proposal for 2024 to enter the evaluation and approval process. In addition to considering general tasks, public service, and tasks stipulated by law, the budget proposal also takes into account the tasks/projects that are part of the Government Program 2021-2025 and the implementation agenda of the so-called “Landspakket.” Minister Martina indicated the necessary funds during the extended period (2024-2027) to execute these tasks and projects.

Several reforms, for which preparations for implementation have already begun, are underway. One of them is the reform of the governmental apparatus. Curaçao’s governmental apparatus must be transformed into an effective, efficient, decisive, and execution-driven entity. This can be achieved, among other things, through digitalization and doing more with fewer people. The government apparatus has already been reduced by approximately 600 personnel, and now investments need to be made over an extended period to achieve the necessary reforms.

Minister Martina emphasizes the importance of ensuring sufficient funding availability over an extended period to successfully achieve these reforms and maintain continuity. The budget proposal for 2024 provides a solid foundation for this purpose.
