Man killed in boating accident near Nevis
April 23, 2023 —Loop News- A 58-year-old man was killed yesterday in a boating accident that occurred just off the Nevis coast.
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) reported that Ishmael Hanley was in waters off the coastline near the Four Seasons on Nevis when he was struck by a boat that was ferrying guests of the luxury resort.
Police said the boat captain, who was ferrying two crewmembers and seven passengers at the time, reported that he felt the vessel struck an object a half-mile offshore.
“Upon checking, he saw a man (later identified as Ishmael Hanley) in the water, waving for assistance. The captain took Hanley onto the boat and transported him to Charlestown Pier where he was then transported to the Alexandra Hospital. Regrettably, Hanley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival,” police said.
