Dissatisfaction arises regarding ministers’ credit card usage

June 9, 2023  –WILLEMSTAD – Member of Parliament Steven Martina of the opposition party MAN has expressed his dissatisfaction with the credit card provided to ministers, as revealed through his recent inquiries directed at Minister of Finance Javier Silvania.

According to the National Decree, ministers are authorized to withdraw $25,000 when traveling for official purposes. This amount can be used for expenses such as airfare, car rentals, and accommodation.

The MAN party is concerned that while some families on the island lack access to running water, ministers are enjoying trips abroad. Of particular concern is the lack of transparency regarding how the funds are spent during these official trips.

These concerns stem from previous instances where funds allocated to ministers were not utilized for their intended purposes. The MAN party expects to receive clarifications within a six-week timeframe regarding their inquiries.
