Curacao and Sint Maarten engage in consultations with Dutch government on ENNIA’s restart

June 23, 2023  –THE HAGUE – Current discussions between the countries of Curacao and Sint Maarten and the Dutch government in the Netherlands revolve around securing a restart for ENNIA, the troubled insurance company.  It is estimated that a minimum of 700 million guilders will be required for this endeavor. In May of this year, the Central Bank of Curacao and Sint Maarten reached out for assistance, citing the urgent need for substantial financial support for the ailing insurer, or alternatively, the implementation of policy adjustments. While Curacao leans towards a capital injection, finding common ground on this matter with the Netherlands is crucial.
