CPA and CMAR sign MOU to fortify Curaçao’s maritime industry

June 12, 2023  –WILLEMSTAD – In a significant move to bolster the maritime sector in Curaçao, the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Curaçao Maritime Association (CMAR). The primary objective of this partnership is to attract more maritime activities to the island and expand the influence of the maritime industry, benefitting both Curaçao and its stakeholders in the maritime sector. 

Under the MOU, CPA, and CMAR will collaborate on various initiatives to achieve these goals. This includes joint marketing efforts, sharing of knowledge and expertise, networking opportunities, and working together on specific aspects of port development, such as renewable energy implementation and aligning with the objectives of the National Export Strategy. Additionally, the partnership will focus on enhancing the operational efficiency of port and maritime services while prioritizing health, safety, and environmental considerations. 

CPA recognizes the importance of establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders who have significant ties to the Port of Willemstad. As part of this commitment, CPA maintains close affiliations with renowned organizations such as the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association, Caribbean Shipping Association, American Association of Port Authorities, and Port Management Association of the Caribbean. 

This collaborative effort between CPA and CMAR signifies a major step forward in fortifying Curaçao’s maritime industry and ensuring its long-term growth and success. The MOU sets the stage for a fruitful partnership that will foster innovation, economic development, and sustainable practices within the maritime sector.
