August 23, 2021 WILLEMSTAD - The number of residents on Curaçao who have had the first corona vaccination has passed 95,000. More than 85,000-second shots have also been taken. On Sunday, the counter stood at 95,205 vaccinated.
On January 1, 2021, Curaçao had more than 150,000 residents. That means that about sixty percent of the population has had the first shot, and 55 percent is fully protected against the virus with the second shot.
Of the 88 hospital admissions between July 22 and August 17, 82 patients were not vaccinated. One patient had only had the first shot, and another became ill within two weeks of the second vaccination. Three of the 88 patients were fully vaccinated.
96,531 people have now registered for a vaccination.
