June 8, 2021 WILLEMSTAD - There is currently no candidate for the ministerial post in either Economic Development or Justice in the proposed Pisas cabinet. The new government team of MFK and PNP will therefore initially start with 7 ministers. This is according to sources close to the cabinet formation.
It had already been agreed that the MFK will receive 6 ministerial posts and the PNP 3. But Eduard Braam, MFK candidate for Justice, withdrew last week and in the same week, it was also announced that PNP member Ramon Chong, candidate for Economic Development, would not pass the screening. The parties, therefore, must look for 2 new candidates.
It is not yet known who the new candidates are. There are some names being mentioned, but there has been no official nomination yet. It is expected that Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas, in addition to his premiership, will temporarily also be an acting minister of justice.
The final report of formateur Chester Peterson is now ready but has yet to be submitted to the governor. The coalition parties take into account that this will happen in the short term. "Later this week, or at the latest next Monday, the new ministerial team will be sworn in by the governor."
