Air Antilles plane collides with helicopter during landing at St. Barths

August 25, 2023  –GUSTAVIA – A Twin Otter aircraft from Air Antilles collided with a helicopter after landing at Gustaf III Airport in the capital of St. Barths. The helicopter was parked at the side of the runway. 

On board the Twin Otter were six passengers and two crew members. Some of them suffered minor injuries, but most of them escaped unharmed, as reported by the authorities of St. Barths. 

The aircraft had arrived from Guadeloupe. The airline Air Antilles is also known here in Curaçao for its flights to various destinations in the Caribbean. Air Antilles connects Curaçao to St. Maarten, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Barbados, and many other places. 

The authorities of St. Barths have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. It’s possible that an issue with the landing gear caused the aircraft to veer off the runway. There was no one in the helicopter at the time.
